What is Slip Form?
Slipform construction technique is an alternative for conventional formwork system which helps in continuous vertical and horizontal construction. Generally,Sliding formwork is a construction technique for structures with high length.
Slip formwork technology is the system that the platform is continuously upgraded with the help of hydraulic equipment. The platform rises 150-300 mm per hour depending on the setting of concrete.Concrete is supporting itself in a very short time.
Slip formwork consist of yoke legs, steel frames(spur), trusses and fastening devices connected to the working frame. Yoke legs are also used to connect with the beams, scaffoldings and working platforms to serve the supporting purpose. Walk-away brackets are connected to the yoke legs. The whole slipform assembly is lifted by means of climbing rods and lifting jacks or hydraulic pump components.
Casting, reinforcement and control works are completed in the same place and together. When the concrete is cured by hand (tilfir platform), it forms a smooth and solid concrete structure from the bottom of the structure to the end point. Generally, work is carried out in 24-hour shifts in order to avoid cold grouting (not half-finished concrete casting).
Applications

– Crushed stone and lime silos
– Grain silos
– Glass silos
– Clearing pools
– Control and TV transmitter towers
– Navigation towers
– Waste water decanting tanks
– Dam water intake structures
– Balance chimneys
– Dam shaft construction
– Cooling Towers
Advantages of Sliding Formwork System
Slip Form system is 4-7 times faster than traditional methods.
As the form moves with the help of hydraulic jacks so crane is used as a minimum.
Since the sliding formwork system has its own platforms, low level scaffolding and working platform are used.
Therefore, this system is a much safer system than conventional construction works.
Since there is no unnecessary material to be stored, it contributes to the cleaning and ordering of the building site.
The smooth wall surface is obtained without sliding joints with the sliding mold. Therefore, it provides to form a monolithic structure.
Labor cost is reduced depending on the intensity of the work process and the structure.
Disadvantages of Slipform Construction Technique
High –cost for initial setup
Requires Specialized workers and experts (supervisor)
Need spesific Equipment
